IPL final win in 2015 very special: Rohit Sharma recalls celebration with Ritika Sajdeh

first_imgMumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up to play their 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) final in which they take on familiar foes Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.Ahead of the big match, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma sat down and recalled memories from their three title-winning campaigns.Rohit went down the memory lane after scrolling through throwback photos. Notably, the India opener has won four IPL titles and three as captain. Rohit has a 100% record in the title matches of IPL.Rohit became the first captain to lead Mumbai Indians to an IPL title when he was handed the responsibility of leading the team in 2013. He did it with the Mumbai Indians once again in 2015 and helped the franchise to become the most successful in IPL by leading them to glory in 2017.Stressing that the IPL 2015 final win was special as he was cheered on by then fiancee Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit spoke about a photo in which he had posed with the IPL trophy along with Ritika.”2015 which is quite special. This was the year we got engaged. The final was a few days before I got engaged to Ritika. As you can see, I am blushing here (in the photo). And Ritika as well, she was not in this to click a picture. Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with a 26-ball 50 as MI went on to post 202 for 5 in 20 overs which proved too much in the end for MS Dhoni’s men.Speaking about a photograph from Mumbai Indians’ maiden IPL title win in 2013, Rohit pointed out Jasprit Bumrah’s maiden season and Lasith Malinga’s “gold and black hair”.”This was me, 6 years younger. I was so excited. You can see my face. I don’t do this kind of things now. This is right after the celebration on the ground after winning the trophy. Quite excited and quite animated,” Rohit said.”The second one, this was right after the trophy was presented in the ground itself. Anant, one of our owners, is here as well. There’s a little surprise there, this was his first year and he’s right near the trophy.”Speaking about a team photo from 2017 IPL win, Rohit added: “And then comes 2017, the three pillars of this team. Aakash, Nita Bhabi and Sachin Tendulkar. They have been part of this franchise since Day 1. And as usual, Pandya brothers there as well.”These were very special.
