Norwegian Coast Guard contracts Vard for vessel maintenance

first_img Norway-based vessel designer and builder Vard will be working on the maintenance of five Norwegian Coast Guard vessels, the company announced on Monday.The company said the total value of the contract signed with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation was approximately NOK 48 million (approx. USD5.6M) over a period of four years.The framework agreement includes ship maintenance and corrective maintenance of the Norwegian Coast Guard’s Nornen series of vessels. The agreement stretches over a period of four years with options for three more years. The framework agreement is assigned to Vard Langsten in Norway.“We appreciate our long term relationship with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation, and are honoured to have been awarded this framework contract,” Roy Reite, CEO and executive director, commented. “Our shipyards build a broad range of specialized vessels, and have a high competence within conversions, repairs and maintenance.”The five Nornen-class patrol boats were designed by Skipsteknisk AS and built at Szczecińska Stocznia Remontowa Gryfia S.A., Poland, yard.Delivered between 2007 and 2008, the vessels are designed for fishery- and coastal supervision, surveillance and control, oil recovery in connection with pollution incidents and assistance to police and customs authorities.
